01  The Challenge

A critical IT leadership vacancy opened mid-migration on a live, global platform replacement, at exactly the moment the project could least afford a gap in functional ownership.

The client was replacing a legacy Epsilon platform (EPCC/EPCL) with Epsilon’s People Cloud Customer 2.0, while simultaneously standing up a new digital consumer experience capability. When their internal IT lead had an unexpected departure, a key functional role was left unfilled at the exact moment the migration was accelerating.

Senior leadership remained in place, but with no one in the specific role accountable for functional design, architecture decisions, integration design, and vendor management with Epsilon, the migration risked stalling. Scope drift, integration errors, and a delayed go-live were all real possibilities. The cost of delay was significant, as the platform was already in motion across global marketing teams.

The challenge was not just filling a vacancy. It was finding someone who could step in immediately, earn trust quickly, and carry full functional ownership of a complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise platform migration without missing a beat.

02  What We Did

We placed a Director-level digital marketing technology expert as fully embedded augmented staff, operating as an integrated team member from inside the organization rather than as an outside consultant.

Our consultant carried a client badge, attended internal meetings, and stepped into the role as the de facto IT Functional Lead for the platform migration. The engagement was structured as a 6-month fixed-price arrangement to give the client budget predictability while the project hit its milestones. Accountability for functional design decisions, Epsilon vendor compliance, and platform integrity were all maintained without interruption from day one.

In parallel, TP designed a comprehensive PCC 2.0 training program to build lasting internal capability on the new platform. The curriculum covered data objects, audience activation, connectors, and profile APIs across at least five distinct user groups: internal marketing teams, media agency partners, the MindTree technology partner, insights teams, and core platform users.

The goal throughout was not just to ship the migration. It was to ensure every team that would need to operate the platform after go-live was ready to do so independently, without ongoing reliance on Epsilon or external consultants.

03  The Result

The platform migration went live on time. Internal teams inherited full ownership of PCC 2.0, with the capability to build audiences, manage data connections, and activate across paid and owned channels independently.

Accountable functional leadership was in place within days of the vacancy emerging, preventing any meaningful project delay. The engagement delivered a seasoned IT leader embedded in the business who drove functional design decisions, managed the Epsilon vendor relationship, and transferred knowledge to internal stakeholders throughout the migration.

The PCC 2.0 training curriculum covered the full platform from data architecture to audience activation, equipping cross-functional teams to own the platform going forward. The organizational and technical risk created by an unplanned leadership vacancy on a live, global migration was eliminated entirely.
